TIG welding training level 1 to 4
The TIG welding course teaches you the professional skills of arc welding with non-fusing electrode in shielding gas. After this training you should be able to carry out the described and established skills independently based on the usual drawings and work instructions.
TIG welding training level 1
- Welding processes (principles).
- Welding instalations for TIG welding.
- Principle of arc welding.
- Welding of inner, outer corner seams and blunt joints in plate in the position PA and PB, V-seams in pipe in the position PA.
- In TIG stainless steel pipe: Welding of blunt seams in pipe, in the positions PA & PC, thin and thick wall, I-seams and V-seams. And welding of overlap seams, position PB.
Duration of welding course: 13 or 17 weeks.
TIG welding training level 2
- Chemical concepts.
- Iron and steel preparation.
- Cast iron/cast steel and alloying elements.
- The influence of carbon on the properties of steel and its effect on the weldability of steel.
- Forms of trade of steel products.
- The influence of alloying elements in steel aluminum and aluminum alloys and their weldability.
- Corrosion, measures to prevent or reduce corrosion.
- Welding of internal corner seams and butt joints in the positions PA, PB, PF. External corner seams in the PA and PF positions.
- For TIG stainless steel pipe: Welding of blunt joints in pipe, in the positions PC, PH, PD, thin and thick wall, I-seams and V-seams. And welding of overlap seams, in the position PD.
Duration of welding course: 13 or 17 weeks.
TIG welding training level 3
- Welding seam forms and pretreatments.
- Loads on structures.
- Shrinkage phenomena.
- Welding positions and welding indications on drawings.
- Reading of drawings.
- Welding of inner and outer corner seams in the positions PB, PD, PF, PG; V-seams in the positions PA and PF.
- Welding from sheet of composite workpieces in which said seam forms and welding positions occur.
- Welding of blunt joints in pipe.
Duration of welding course: 26 or 34 weeks.
TIG welding training level 4
- Process variables in welding.
- The arc.
- Welding consumables.
- Welding imperfections, causes and occurrences.
- Welding in practice.
- Safety, health, welfare and environment (Arbo).
- Welding of pipe/pipe and pipe/plate joints in virtually all positions using the usual seam forms (internal angle, external angle, I, V and 1/2 V seams.
Duration of welding course: 26 or 34 weeks.
Exams
The welding courses are concluded with a theory and practical exam. These exams are conducted by an independent examiner from the Dutch Institute for Welding Technology (NIL). If you pass, you will receive an NIL diploma. This diploma will always be valid.

Subsidy possibilities
There are several possibilities to qualify for an attractive subsidy. You will have to apply for this yourself, but of course we are happy to help you on your way by informing you about the various possibilities.
OOM Foundation
OOM is a training consultancy in the metalworking industry. Their goal is to raise the level of craftsmanship in the metal industry. They do this by stimulating the learning culture within companies. OOM co-finances the training costs for employer, employee or student. Read more about the OOM foundation.
STAP Budget
STAP budget is a personal development budget which you can use to train yourself or to be retrained. It is used to cover (part of) the costs of a training activity. Per year you can do a maximum of 1 STAP course, for which a maximum of 1000 euros STAP budget can be allocated. All our courses, workshops and trainings are eligible for this reimbursement. Elektrolas Welding School
Because we work with small groups there is a lot of personal attention and guidance. Our welding school uses the latest equipment and lessons are given by experienced teachers. During the training we pay a visit to a destructive testing lab. Here, our students see how the materials they deal with every day are tested.
